Windows 10: Windows Networking Disabled After Disabling CSM Support

Hello! I’m having a tough time here after disabling CSM support in my BIOS. Upon loading Windows now, my Ethernet adapter is completely missing from Network & Internet Settings, and in Device Manager, is labeled with a warning sign. In the Device Status box inside the adapter’s properties, it reads “This device cannot start. Code 10”. My Wi-Fi adapter has actually been disabled since before this, but when I learned that my Ethernet no longer was working, I tried re-enabling my Wi-Fi adapter — only to find that Windows freezes up and Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn’t work :/.


Of course I can re-enable CSM Support to remedy the problem for now, but I have a dual-boot setup that more-or-less requires it to be enabled for my second OS to function.


I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling both drivers for the adapters and performing a Network Reset which leads to an indefinitely-spinning loading circle after restarting.


Secure Boot is enabled although this problem occurs with or without it.

We understand your concern and in order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

• When you say, “I am stuck on Aptio setup utility” are you able to boot the computer to Desktop?
  
• What is the make and model of the laptop?
• What is the Windows 10 version and Build installed? (Type winver in Windows search/Run command)

In the meantime, I suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned below and see if that helps in resolving the issue:

1. Boot your computer up and wait for it to boot into the Aptio Setup Utility.
   
2. Once in the Aptio Setup Utility, navigate to the
   Security
   
3. Expand the Secure Boot menu
   section and disable Secure Boot.
   
4. Navigate to the Save & Exit
   tab, save your changes, exit the Aptio Setup Utility,
   restart your computer and wait for it to boot into the utility once again.
   
5. Navigate to the Boot
   
   
6. Disable Secure Boot and Fast Boot
   
7. Enable CSM (Compatibility Support Module).
   
8. Navigate to the Save & Exit
   tab, save your changes, exit

disable 2.4ghz network

First, get the computer to forget your current network:

• Click the Network icon on the lower right corner of your screen.
• Click Network settings.
• Click Manage Wi-Fi settings.
• Under Manage known networks, click the network you want to delete.
• Click Forget. The wireless network profile is deleted.

Next, go into your router and either completely disable the 2.4GHz radio or set the 2.4 and the 5G radios to different SSIDs, maybe the 2.4 can be your guest Wifi...

Then, on your computer, only join the 5Ghz SSID network.

The suggestion in the post above to just disable the SSID broadcast of the 2.4Ghz radio will probably not work, your computer will still join it.
