Windows 10: Windows not activated after clean install

If you still have hard drive activity, then it would be best to let it sit until finished. Sometimes it can take quite a while.

 

I've seen at least one report which claims that the Blocked key issue was related to a lack of temporary file space, or an existing file that it couldn't overwrite in temp files. Running a disk cleanup and clearing temp files solved it. Not sure if that's the case for everyone.

 

I contacted support yesterday. As you would expect first line are useless if it's not on the script.
It was escalated to line two who phoned this morning after it had activated by itself.

 

Disk clean up had already been ran so there shouldn't have been any temp files left.
I think its more just that the system is bogged down with all the activations and it's just taking longer for it to connect the dots.

O.k. thought so from few posts back, wanted to make sure. I did a clean install.

Yes, exactly.. After clean install.

 

I did not do a clean install, I just reset to factory defaults. That wiped everything and installed windows 10.

I upgraded from 7 to 10 and the activation went right through. I made a dvd and did a clean install on the same machine the next day so no changes to anything and it now won't activate. when I called Microsoft I was told to keep updating and eventually it will activate. Not sure if that's true since it seems like if it was Microsoft would post that info somewhere so everyone would stop asking the question. Might be a ploy to get everyone to update and then be forced to pay for a activation key. Might be forced to roll back to 7 and wait until the bugs are out

 

Just for curiosity - from a command prompt run "slui 4" without quotes. That will pop up the old phone activation screen. Would be interesting to try.

 

Today I installed Windows 10 pro on a newly bought Hard drive.
1 .I had Windows 8.1 Pro DVD. Clean installed and activated it using the key.
2 .No drivers installed, no updates, nothing...Downloaded Media Creation Tool.
3. Downloaded the iso file using Downloaded Media Creation Tool.
4. Created a bootable usb drive using Rufus.
5. Inserted the usb and clicked on the Setup file.
6. Upgraded Successfully without any problems and also I checked if it was activated. I see it is *Smile
7. Reboot Laptop, Changed boot order to USB Drive in BIOS.
8. Clean installed. Skipped both the times when it told me enter the Key.
9. Checked If it was automatically activated. And I see that it was not this time *really
10. I had to click on Activate once. No error. Windows 10 Pro activated *Cool
