Windows 10: windows not opening programs/apps properly from hyperlinks

Hi,


when i click on hyperlinks (i.e. from outlook) it doesn't automatically show me chrome it just opens a new tab and highlights in orange the chrome icon in the application bar. [both chrome and outlook are my default apps]

Windows behave similarly whenever a notification pops up (i.e. whatsapp app), when I click on the notification it just highlights in orange the app in the application bar.

Sometimes, mostly right after a reboot, it works properly opening the app on the screen when i click on a link/notification.


Is there any known way to fix this??

• Do you have Internet Explorer set as a default program?
• Do you face the issue only with the hyperlinks from an email?
• On which email application do you face this issue?

We would suggest you to copy the hyperlink or use an hyperlink from a wordpad and check if you face the same issue.

Opening hyperlinks in Windows Live email

I suggest you to Repair Windows Live Mail and check if it helps.

Please follow the steps below on how to repair Windows Live Mail:

1. Click on the Start icon and select, Control Panel.

2. Under Programs & Features, click Uninstall a Program.

3. Locate Windows Live Essential then click Uninstall/Change.

4. When a window appears, select Repair all Windows Live programs.

5. Restart your computer after the repair.
