  1. Windows opens programs on a second monitor, after undocking

1.Plugin your laptop to a docking station

2.Connect to this station one or two monitors. (I have connected two monitors)

3.Open on each monitor an app

I have opened on a monitor the "Licecap" app , on the second one "Firefox" browser + "RocketChat" , on the third one (the laptop's display) "Chrome" browser.

4.Unplug the docking station from power source

For me the power went down = the docking station switched off > monitors 1 & 2 closed

5.Go to taskbar and click on all open apps

    EXPECTED:

1.All open applications are continue to be displayed on the laptop's monitor , the third monitor, after a short reload

2.All open apps shows in taskbar that are running.

    ACTUAL:

1.All open apps shows in taskbar that are running.

2.THE APPS OPENED ON MONITORS ONE & TWO ARE NOT DISPLAYED ON LAPTOP'S MONITOR

3.THE APPS SHOWS AS OPENED IN TASK MANAGER

4.AFTER CLICKING ON EACH APPLICATION ICON FROM TASKBAR I CAN SEE, FOR A MILLISECOND, THE TRACE/ANIMATION OF EACH APP GOING IN THE LEFT OR RIGHT

5.CHECKED IN DISPLAY SETTINGS PAGE AND ONLY ONE MONITOR IS DETECTED

6.IF THE LAPTOP'S DISPLAY WAS NOT SET AS THE MAIN MONITOR , THEN THE SYSTRAY DOESN'T SHOW UP EITHER.

-The only way i could restore those apps is by changing the recommended text size or resolution on laptop's monitor, but the results are random

-The WINDOWS+P feature doesn't solve anything

-This also occurs even if you don't have a docking station , but only monitors connected to your laptop and after that you will disconnect them.

    :)

Windows opens programs on a second monitor, that is not connected

Hi Romel. I already tried that - the system automatically disables the second monitor when it gets undocked (as I said in my original mail -
"the settings shows that the system knows it is disconnected".

When undocked, the Settings for Project are already on PC only, yet if I open a program that was last open on th second monitor, Windows opens it as though that monitor is still there. I.e. off in space. The Peek shows the open and running program, I just
can't see it unless I reconnect my second monitor. This is massively inconvenient.

So your answer does not solve the problem. I have checked, and a few other people I know are having similar problems!

Windows opens programs on a second monitor, that is not connected

I have a Dell XPS13 laptop. When on my desk, I use a second monitor through a docking station (USB3 Kensington). However, when I undock and go mobile, Windows insists on opening programs on the second monitor, even though it is no longer there and the settings
shows that the system knows it is disconnected. I can see the "open" program in task switcher, and I get all the usual options to Snap, Move to desktop etc., I just can't see the program window on my actual laptop screen.

To fix this, the only thing I have found is to connect to another monitor, and move the window onto the laptop screen, then disconnect the monitor. Most inconvenient, especially whn on a train!!

How can I prevent this, or at least move the windows to my main screen when it happens, without a second monitor to connect to. Please note, I am NOT talking about a virtual desktop, but a physical monitor.

Opening programs on second monitor, not main monitor

    Ok,

Well I go to display settings, and there is no check box for extend to this monitor. There is however Duplicate displays, Display only 1, or Display only 2. None of which are the correct answer. I go to one and yes the primary monitor box is checked.
On 2 it is unchecked. This is also how I had it in Windows 7 and 8 / 8.1. It still does not solve programs opening on monitor 1 when I want them to open on monitor 2 because I am busy with something on monitor 1. Never had the issue with Windows 7 or 8
    / 8.1, but I am with Windows 10.

As for the second suggestion, I right clicked on an item in the taskbar and it did not display a move, it just opened up. Again, if I selected it from the taskbar or start menu on the second display it opens up on display 1. This is the behavior that I
do not want to happen. Why is this so hard to understand. Something important going on with Display 1, need to open up something else, open it on display 2, if I select it from there, not on display one. It then opens on display 1, which then minimizes
the program that was open on display 1, sometimes closing it out. If I am selecting it from display 2, I want it to open on display 2. I can't have two main monitors. But a feature that worked in previous versions, and worked well, should at least work
in this version. Otherwise all I can say is that the developers borked that one away. So no the issue is still not fixed, and it is completely pissing me off.
