Windows 10: Windows Pc Crashed,need to retrieve my activated windows 10

My pc crashed,had to do a rreinstall.This forum to me to get a windows 10 iso file,do a reinstall,and Windows will do a silent activation.As I reached my monthly data cap from my isp,I was unable to download the file,but did get the file from a friend(windows 10 2015 version).I think I messed up,because there were no silente activation,and Windows tell me my Windows needs to be activated.I am now able to download the official windows from Microsoft website,So can I still reset and reinstall that windows?I really can't afford a new copy of windows.(ps,It still showing on my ssd,"old windows)

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?

How long did you wait for activation?
When I re-installed with a fresh install... it took a few hours to sync and activate.
However, it did, finally, activate.
