Windows 10: Windows Photo App

I have a Samsung Camera and until the WIndows update in November of 2019, I was able to import photos from my camera using the SD card without difficulty. Since that update, I can no longer consistently import my photos. When the app finally starts a download it never brings up the command to select photos. Only the cancel button is present and once the photos appear to be transferred the cancel button is frozen. I had my tech support company try to correct this issue back in November and they worked for hours trying to find the problem. No problem was ever found to address why this app was no longer working correctly. All updates are current. Please advise on how I am to get the WIndow Photo app to work correctly once again. It is extremely frustrating to have an app yet not be able to import photos or videos and share them with my family and friends. As I said, this app worked perfectly fine until the November 2019 update. Something is terribly wrong and I know I am not the only one having this problem. WINDOWS 10 MICROSOFT PHOTO APP

The Photos app brings together pictures from all your devices using OneDrive, so that you can browse them by date, album or folder. It also automatically enhances photos, and creates albums for you, to showcase your best shots.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

I suggest you to change the Default apps in the setting app and verify the result. You may follow the steps in the below:

• Go to settings and system.
  
• Click on Default Apps and select the appropriately.
  

Method 2:

I suggest you to reinstall Photo app using the PowerShell command
and reinstall using the Windows store. Follow the below steps.

• Open the　Start　menu, type　Windows PowerShell　in the search bar.
  
• Right click on the　Windows　PowerShell　and select　Run as　administrator.
  
• Enter the below command to uninstall the Photo app.
  

• 　　get-appxpackage　　*Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

Windows 10 photo app

We suggest that you reset Windows Photo app. Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key + R.
• Type %appdata%\..\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Photo_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
• Delete all the contents of the folder.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

 

Photos are opening with Paint instead of Photos app

It's likely that your default application for opening photos is Paint. To change your default program in Windows 10 from
Paint to the Photo app, we suggest that you perform the following steps:

• On the Start menu, select Settings.
  
• Go to System, then go to Default apps.
  
• Select Photos or any app that you like to be the default under
  Photo viewer.
