Discus and support Windows Photos facial recognition triggers a download of cloud only .jpgs from Onedrive in Microsoft Windows 10 Store to solve the problem; I turned on the facial recognition in Photos which then triggered a massive download of my photo library from Onedrive even though the folder was set...     Windows Photos facial recognition triggers a download of cloud only .jpgs from Onedrive


    I turned on the facial recognition in Photos which then triggered a massive download of my photo library from Onedrive even though the folder was set to "Free up space". Consequently my hard drive kept on filling up. I have now switched recognition off.


    It appears the facial recognition feature is incompatible with Onedrive and keeping your pictures in the cloud. This seems crazy!!


    Furthermore there are no warnings in Photos about the consequences of turning facial recognition on.


    I am sure many others must have had this issue

    Is the facial recognition feature in Windows 10 Photos local or cloud?

    Apparently, the Photos app found on Windows 10 can group photos based on people in it i.e. it has facial recognition features. I'm wondering if this facial recognition is done on the device locally, or are the photos sent to microsoft servers? Is there any kind of documentation to clarify about this?

    Recommendations for viewing photos? (no facial recognition etc)

    hello, new to Windows 10. I keep my photos organized in folders and intend to keep them that way. How can I open and view the photos in a given folder as a group? Any simple applications? I don't want to use Pictures because it seems to want to reorganize the pictures that I have already organized and put them in a new set of folders, so I need the world's simplest, most reliable application. Also I cannot start Pictures because it keeps putting up a screen to enable facial recognition, which I do not want. No matter how many times I click the "Decline" button this screen will not go away. I just want to view the photos I have already grouped.
