Windows 10: Windows Power Off options aren't working correctly

For a very long time now, months, I've had this issue where when I try to sleep my PC, it will restart, when I try to shut it down it will also restart. The only option that works as meant is the restart.


I have auto updates on, i always try to havw my system up to date check twice a week at least

I only have my PC to restart once a week

Sometimes the sleep or shut down buttons work as meant, but a lot of the times they don't.

With pending update restars, sleep seems to work and it doesn't restart the PC


I usually leave my PC on sleep overnight whilst I'm asleep.


I don't understand why it keeps happening. I am 100% sure I press the correct buttons, and don't accidentally click on the wrong one.

Icons from apps aren´t displayed correctly






The native apps from the system are all showing this strange square instead of the normal icons. Please help resolve this problem. Thanks

Do the apps work fine apart form the icons not displaying correctly? If so I would suggest you to run an SFC scan and check if it helps. If the issue persists you may run DISM command and check.

Follow this steps:

    Press Windows+X.
    
  • 
    Click on Command Prompt (Admin).
    
  • 
    Type the command SFC /SCANNOW and
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and hit
    Enter.

Windows 10 Power Options Not working

I suggest you to follow the below methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: Use the hardware troubleshooter to fix the issue

The Hardware Troubleshooter is an automated tool which will check the hardware connected to the computer for any known issues with it and provides the details and on how to fix them. Follow these steps and run the troubleshooter.
Follow these steps:

• Press Windows key to get the Start menu.
• Type Troubleshooting in the search box right up corner and hit enter.
• Click on Troubleshooting tab.
• Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
• Select the power options from the list.
• Click Next to run the power Troubleshooter.

Method 2: Also I suggest you to create a new power plan and check if it helps.

• Go to control panel and then click on power options.
• Then click on create new power plan.
• Change the power plan accordingly and check.
