Windows 10: Windows reset not completing after 2004 update

I recently upgraded my Dell Inspiron 3567 8Gb 2Tb to 2004 version of Windows.

After a couple of days I had issues with my pc getting slow. later, I could not login to windows as Dell Support Assist detected a problem in OS, and I performed a reset by opting to keep my personal files and reset the PC, now it is stuck at installing windows 88 percent and it also freezed the circling dots in between once. I restarted the laptop, the dots are now rotating, but there's no change from 88.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Windows 10 fails to update


When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.
