Windows 10: Windows Restore: system restore from a previous installation of Windows 10

Hello, My operating system recently had a turd and could not be recovered using the windows recovery tool. So I had to reinstall windows 10 Pro.


upon reinstalling Windows I tried to access my restore point I had created in a secondary drive. but when using "backup" in settings, "file restore", and even system restore/image restore none of them could recognize my old restore point. To add to everything else all of my files from the previous installation were moved to a windows.old file within the C drive. I was able to create new restore points in the same location as my previous install and all 3 methods of restore, and they see that restore point, but not the old one.


So my question is how to I get windows to recognize my previous restore point (15gb) from my previous installation of windows?

System restore is handy when it works like it did for me 2 days ago saving the need to reinstall all of my software as well as windows, id suggest using norton Ghost 12 for an excellent system restore feature.

Unfortunately, System Restore doesn't always work so well. The only way to properly fix this is issue is to do a fresh install of windows.

 

How do I disable system restore?

so how is that not a back up copy of the system? it is a program that uses backed up data to restore files.
