Windows 10: Windows Sandbox Does Nothing 1909 Build 18363

I just upgraded from Windows 10 home to Win10 Education. It seems to be very similar to enterprise, and I got to upgrade for free. I just want to use the sandbox and I've spent hours trying to get it running.


Virtualization is enabled in Bios, sandbox, Hyper-V, VM platform, and Hypervisor platform all enabled in features. I have already tried going through the processes in order and restarting them virtual disk, virtualization, hyper-v, cm services, etc. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting, and everything you can find on youtube and these forums.


When I run the sandbox, it opens the admin window to allow sandbox to make changes on this computer, I hit yes and the window closes and nothing happens. I have tried so much and don't even get an error message, just nothing. All I want to do is use this sandbox. Any ideas?

The Windows 1909 SAC final release #18363 build-418 issue

Hi ,

We use latest windows image to perform integrate our code with the OS .

We have been using Windows 1909 SAC release builds.

Microsoft released Windows 1909 SAC final release #18363 build 418 , seeing issue in the image.

The running dism.exe found in sources folder of image, shows windows version as 10.0.18362.1

The "ver" command in CMD, shows windows version as 10.0.18362.418

The "msinfo32" command after OS install using ISO file, shows version as 10.0.18363

Only this particular build is behaving like this.

is it a bug??

 

1909 in the offing?

No. I'm suggesting that to install 1909 first Setup installs 1903 (18362) then it switch on the 1909 (18363) features with the Enablement Package.

1909 is not a full Feature Update in the normal sense, this is the first Feature Update to be performed via a form of cumulative update. See my post #115

 

Windows Sandbox failed to start. Error 0x80070015 and 0x80070057.

I'm not sure if this issue was ever resolved for Alexis, but I'm having the same issue with error 0x80070057.

I pretty much gave up trying, but saw this thread and figured can't hurt to contribute some more info and maybe reach a solution.

Had the issue with 1903, updated to 1909, still the same problem.

I ran out of troubleshooting steps, and short of re-installing Windows I'm not sure where to go.

• Updated BIOS to most recent firmware.
  
• Disabled/Re-Enabled Intel Virtualization.
  
• All Windows Updates run and up to current (on 1909 now, build 18363.476).
• Virtualization and SLAT support confirmed (i7-7700K).
• Removed and reinstalled Hyper-V multiple times.
• Removed and reinstalled Windows Sandbox multiple times.
• Cleared C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder.
• Ran Sandbox Configuration Manager
• Windows Display Language is English (United States)

I am not running any third party VM software of any sort.

Any thoughts?
