Windows 10: Windows Sandbox fails to start. No error - empty dialog box

Hi,


I just upgraded Windows 10 Home to Pro to use Windows Sandbox. I have enabled it in the "Turn Windows Features On and Off" and rebooted.


After startup I tried to run sandbox and while the blue Sandbox splash screen appears a empty dialog error box appears in front of it, it has no title and only a red error icon and OK button. When I click the OK button the splash screen disappears and Sandbox does not start.


I tried this again with Run as Admin and the same thing happened.


I tried disabling Sandbox again, rebooting, re-enabling and rebooting again and still the same problem persists.


Can anyone help?

EDIT:

My winver is Version 20H2 OS Build 19042.685 and have no pending Windows Updates.

Microsoft has acknowledged this issue now:

Windows Sandbox may fail to start with error code “0x80070002”Windows Sandbox may fail to start with "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (0x80070002)" on devices in which the operating system language is changed during the update process when installing Windows 10, version 1903.


Affected platforms:

• Client: Windows 10, version 1903

Next steps: We are working on a resolution and estimate a solution will be available in late June.

I would suggest you to wait until the next cumulative update.

 

Windows Sandbox fails to start



This is the message I get when trying to start Windows Sandbox on WIn10/64 Home Ver. 1903 after installing the Sandbox feature. I did check that I had both the Windows Sandbox feature and Virtualization enabled.

The MS messages that show when clicking the Yes box are no help at all. Google provides no applicable info when searching for the error message number.
