Windows 10: Windows Scan software not capable to do the job from the HP scan software it is said to...

My one-year-old HP Scanjet G3110 used to scan slides, four at the time and via the also installed Solution Centre processed them in to the usual nice .jpeg images. All that stopped about 1 jan 2021 and pressing the usual HP Solution Centre icon on the PC screen, now just results in a non-descriptive square being displayed on the screen with no further action been able to be taken. I therefore downloaded from HP the official Driver for HP Scanjet G3100 Photo Scanner 115Mb and I also downloaded the HP Solution Centre 13.0.

It seemed first to work ok and I scanned 4 slides, which I, as usual, got into my old HP Pavilion Slimline PC running Windows 10 for further processing. When I, today, wanted to continue my scanning work from yesterday, I was back to square one as above, where it did not work. So I again downloaded the two mentioned programs. While the two programs were downloaded OK, the old HP Solution Centre icon on the taskbar disappeared as soon as I touched it and I got the message as listed in the bottom frame.

Therefore, I then downloaded the mentioned relevant Windows Scanning program, which seems to be said to take over from HP Solution Centre, but while that Windows Scanning program get the G3100 Photo Scanner just to scan an A4, it cannot seem to scan for the slides or for several paper photos as is required and as the G3100 Photo Scanner is specially build for. So, what can I do now please?

How long to scan based on software and hardware

Depends on the type of scan, the number and kinds of files, and the performance of the drive. I've seen scans take 4-6+ hours before. Quick scans usually run closer to a few minutes. Let it run its course. I always enable MBAM and other software to inspect containers (ZIP, RAR, 7Z, etc), and to perform deeper scans, even if it takes substantially longer.

Do you know what malware you've been hit with?

What are you running as your live AVAM (Anti-Virus Anti-Malware) scanning solution? Windows Defender? Or is your MalwareBytes a Premium version?

 

Windows Fax & Scan cannot access Documents folder?

I can't say it's the same for your hardware but with my HP fax scan printer I have to have the HP software installed to run the scanner properly

Then I just launch the HP program and do the scan operation from there
