Windows 10: Windows Search Bar shows no result

my windows search bar shows no result at all, it goes block and shows a white display. Please help

Recently I installed Windows 10 on my desktop but the search bar shows no results (this includes any apps, folders, nor does it even include any google or bing search results).

It looks like this:





(and yes, I have google installed)

Ive also tried various other fixes such as:

• Disabling firewall for cortana
• resetting the search index
• restarting the computer
• trying to download cortana again through powershell
• updating the machine (obviously there are no updates pending)
• making sure that windows search service is always on and on automatic
• running the troubleshooter
• killing cortana on task manager

Was wondering if anyone else has this problem or if anyone knows a solution?

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.

Do you have a Spotify app or program installed? Does Spotify appear on your start menu?

If either
- you don't have Spotify installed
or
- search is broken

then you may well not see a result.

Does search work for other things in your start menu?
