Windows 10: Windows Search / Cortana Search: After typing a letter an dark field/box or overlay appears

After I click the Cortana symbol left side bottom to activate Cortanas input field and I make any input for searching, a dark field appears.

Just on the top of Cortanas menu I see the web results, other field is hidden bei the darkness.


The same happens if i click START-Symbol and begin to make any input.


If I click into the white area (without clicking to an link of web result) the dark field is away, but there is still nothing visible on that area.


Temporary Solution: I close the search function from Cortana or windows start area and I make an shortkey WIN+C to activate Cortana, Cortana is listen to hear something from me and than I hit ESC-key sending Cortana to backwards.


After I em able to use the the normal ways of search functions.


I can't resolve the problem. I tried the Command line commandos to find/resolve errors.

Without any effect.


I ask for help now...

Cortana search box - type request

Since I got a Win 10 update a few days ago, Cortana has been hard to deal with :>). She will take requests verbally but if it try to type something into her search box, as soon as I enter a letter, a white box appears as though some suggestions will be
listed (as it did before the update) and then all of a sudden it disappears and I am back to the original Cortana window. Any ideas? I did set up other admin user and Cortana will allow that user to type into the box and she will immediately start a list
of suggestions. Also I tried "method 1 and 2 that required changes to the registry.

 

'Type here to search' (the cortana search box) have appeared white and it remains white !! Why??? Is it an issue?

Sorry, it did not help at all. I executed the Powershell commands, rebooted, and the search box is white.

The problem is on all my various computers, so I'm doubting it is some kind of installation problem. I think there is a bug with Cortana.

I noticed that even if I reboot and the box is initially dark, like it should be, if I click into the search box (which turns it white), it fails to go dark again after dismissing Cortana. So I think there is a bug in the code.

I am on the latest version of Windows 10 (1709).

Hi, have you tried searching the forum?
And have you tried a restore point, or restored a disk image?
(Hopefully you've picked up ny now how invaluable disk imaging can be, and how often it is recommended so that people can deal with problems without technical help, relatively quickly and painlessly)
