    Hello,

My laptop has an issue where it doesn't remove nonexistent programs from Windows search.

It currently runs Windows 10 Enterprise version 20H2 build 19042.844.

    What I tried so far:

    • Reinstall the program and remove it.
    • Clean the registry using CCleaner and regscanner.
    • Clean the hard drive of any mentions of these programs.
    • Rebuild index in indexing options.
    • Completely disable windows search through services.msc.
    • SFC /Scannow and the DISM.exe commands.
    • Major windows updates often those fix issues, but not this one.

As you can see in the screenshot, the program not a uwp app, literally an old school .exe install of a program is not installed seen through Geek uninstaller and the windows settings app.

I cannot click on them as it does nothing left or right mouse click.

I get the feeling that there's some database file keeping these entries and perhaps it has been blocked by something perhaps permissions or something else.

What can I do to fix this, EXCEPT reinstall Windows OR create a new user account and move everything because the latter rarely fixes stuff.

    :)

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.
