  1. Windows seems to have crippled my PC because of high CPU Usage

Recently upgraded my laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 2004 Update.

    These are the specs:

    i7-3667u CPU(dual-core), 8GB RAM, and 180GB SSD

I'm only running a web browser with a couple of Chrome tabs open and my CPU instantly shoots up to 100%. What should I do? In Windows 8.1(latest update) my CPU used to stay under 10% if I was using Chrome.

All drivers are up to date, and as of this time of writing, there are no Windows updates left. I've disabled Cortana, Telemetry, turned off all privacy-related settings. All animations are disabled, and my laptop is always on power-saving mode.

What should I do? Help appreciated.

  2. high cpu usage

After downloading windows 10, anytime I run any programs, I get high CPU usage. It does not matter whether it is google chrome, task manager, playing games, whatever. Anything seems to spike the CPU usage. I have already run malwarbytes and my antivirus
programs and find no viruses. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  3. Windows Explorer high CPU Usage in Windows 10

To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest checking the Task Manager again to see what are the
applications that have high CPU usage. To do this, follow the same steps you did from the previous reply:

    • Click on the Start button and type Task Manager on the search box.
    • On the Task Manager window, you should see the programs running.
    • Click on the More details drop-down button to see the total number of apps running and their real-time CPU usage.

However, based on your response above, it seems that you may need to create a new user account again and just install your apps manually instead of copying them as your
previous user account might be corrupted.

Once your done with the steps, please let us know how it goes.

    HIGH CPU USAGE!

    Hi harrsionsouthby

Thank you so much for your prompt response. I downloaded and ran the tool but no problems were detected. All processes passed. A useful tool to have though. CPU usage seems to have improved though after making a few tweaks suggested on the Microsoft Community.
But now I'm battling more with high disk usage.

    Regards
