Windows 10: Windows Server 2008 (WS2008) and WS2008 dual boot problem

Hi all,

not sure if this is the right place. Sorry if It is not.

I have a drive on which I installed two version of the same WS2008. The way I installed them is the following:
- create an image of the original drive
- clone the original drive to a new one (just for safety)
- install a new WS2008 on the clone drive
- restore image of the original drive on the second partition

I can boot from boot partitions and they seem to working fine, however if I make a new file on one OS I can see the same file on the other OS. If I remove an app on one OS it will scramble the same app on the other OS.

I am not sure if the restore option scrambled the file system.

Microsoft recently added Windows Server 2008 R2 to Dreamspark, so now Server 2008 and Server 2008 R2 are available for free to any student enrolled in a class at any of the universities on their list. Windows Server 2008 R2 can be converted so that it is like Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 can be converted so that it is like Vista. I'm still running XP Pro, but only until I find a free antivirus program for server operating systems *Roll Eyes

 

Dual booting xp and Windows server 2008

Im not sure how to go about doing this.

Any suggetions?

Ive dual booted xp and vista by installing vista then xp, and since 2008 is a lot like vista should it be installed first?

is there a way to install 2008 and keep xp intact?
