Windows 10: Windows Server 2012 R2 .NET Windows Updates fail with error 0x80092004

I lost a lot of time to fix the update issue but I can not fix the issue.

What I am seeing:

• 2018-07 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2 for Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 for x64 (KB4340558)
• 2018-07 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4338815)
• 2018-07 Security Only Quality Update for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4338824)
• 2018-07 Security Only Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2, 4.7, 4.7.1, 4.7.2 for Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 for x64 (KB4340006)
• Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows Server 2012 R2 (KB4339093)
• Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64 (KB4054566)
• Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - July 2018 (KB890830)

These all install at the same time (including 4340558), then restart, then 4340558 is re-offered but fails to install with error 80092004.

Note that 4054566 (.Net 4.7.2) is installing as part of the initial group - presumably that is why 4340558 needs to run again?

I am unable to install:

Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64 (KB4054566)

This is happening across a majority of the servers in my environment (>50 Servers).

each one shows the following in the event log:

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80092004: Update for Windows (KB4054566).

In addition to all the standard Windows update troubleshooting methods, I've tried the package delivered by Windows update as well as manually trying both the online and offline install packages. All give me the same result.

All the systems have the following .NET version already installed.

Product: 4.7.1

Version: 4.7.02558

Release: (461310)

 

Facing Error During Upadation of Windows Server 2012 R2

Hello,

I am trying to update windows Server 2012 R2 Standard but showing error during checking update process.

Error is :- Code 80072EFD Windows Update ran into a problem.

So please suggest that what can I do further process for this issue.
