Windows 10: Windows Services directory on a USB (and a Sality infestation)

What is this and why is it there?


Given a USB drive with AgentCloud_x86.msi on it, from an allegedly clean PC, but it also had two directories of unknown (to me) purpose/origin, WindowsServices and _


Suspicious of these, so removed the drive, (possibly too late) without running AgentCloud_x86.msi. Can find no info about them on the Internyet. (4WIW autorun and autoplay are disabled on the machine)


The AgentCloud acquisition was prompted by a strongly suspected Sality/Kukacka infestation. PC has been misbehaving for maybe 6 weeks, but resident AVG, Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware (all free editions) found nothing, although AVG was previously blocking an apparently innocuous series of websites, which was perhaps the rezident phoning its henchmen.


It stopped doing that a while ago, probably because it was further compromised. ESET online and Panda Cloud Cleaner found nothing BUT Cloud Cleaner wouldn't run in safe mode, even after reinstall, which I found suspicious.


ClamWin reports Sality/Kukacka, nasty Russian P2P spybot and key logger. ClamWin may have worked because I've never used it before off the HD, so the malware didn't subvert it yet.


Current plan is use a bootable write-protected "rescue disk" to scan PC and get non-executable files off it, then reformat. and reinstall


Snag is finding a guaranteed "clean" computer to create the rescue disk on. I tried my GF's macbook to put Kaspersky Rescue Disk on an SD card (write-protectable, apparently there's no demand for that in USB sticks anymore, because people are idiots) but the download took about 3 hours and was not bootable. Will try and arrange to do this from a different location with better download speeds.

As well as the WindowsServices question I'd be very interested in any cuckoo-killing suggestions.

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

• Resoved an issue where selecting "Detail" from the "View" drop down would cause duplicates.
• New "Peek" feature!
  • Selecting something in the Directory column in the Directory view (Left window) while holding "z" will peek into that directory!
  • Double clicking the Directory column in the directory view(Left window) while holding "z" will add the folder.
• New color coded feature in both Size columns for Detailed view.
• Exporting to Excel will now Export both Folder (left) and File (right) window. In the excel file the Folder, and File window will be on different sheets.
• Add a feature to export to older excel 97-2003 (.xls) from the file/export drop down window.

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk
