Windows 10: Windows spotlight lock screen image location

Thanks, bobsagetfullhou. Will the system be able to work with it? All the other files are unusually long names with no extension.

 

The folder won't accept items you put into it but, if you delete the ones in there, you'll get new ones faster.

Do you know where the sign-in screen picture is saved? I have a computer that just upgraded and we can't find the original pic, but the sign-in screen carried it over, and we want to grab it and save it in the pictures library.

I was led to believe it's in C:\Windows\SystemResources\Windows.UI.Logon in the form of a compiled resource file, (.pri)

Where can I find the location of the cached pictures for the lock screen? It is storing previously used pictures somewhere.

 

I found another trick using the path below to find out what image and its easier than the copy/paste method. Use Paint to open the files to see what the image is. Once you find the one you want just save as jpeg to whatever file you chose to save it to.

 

The current lock screens aren't found here so they changed the location. I want todays image and it isn't in there.
I'm on the fast ring though.

 

I'm trying to share the pic I took from my OneDrive but it doesn't look like I can do that on the forum or upload the image from my OneDrive to show in this thread?

Is there a simple way to unpack .pri files into images files? The only stuff I'm finding on "Microsoft Windows compiled resources files" seems to have been written for developers. Thanks!

(The content at C:\Windows\SystemResources\Windows.UI.Logon is indeed there as .pri files. And the only web stuff on reading .pri files that I'm finding online seems to be targeted at software developers and hackers.)

I tried the file path: C:\Users\{your name}\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Asset s but my search just said "Didn't Find Anything". Yes, I placed my username in the search and took out the brackets around it. Does anyone have an idea why it isn't found? Could it be in a slightly different path?

I just joined this forum because I've been searching the web about this and this forum seems to be the most knowledgeable. My problem is that I have a laptop with a lock screen image that is a photo that I took several years ago. Unfortunately, since then I seem to have deleted the photo, but it still shows up on my lock screen. (It even survived an upgrade -- my laptop was running Windows 8 when I put it there, but now it's on Windows 10.)

I managed to find the folder c:\users\<me>\Appdata\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets, and I copied the files there to a temp folder and renamed them to ".jpg"s, but none of them was what I was looking form (the biggest one was only 492KB, and the rest were all well under 100KB).

Maybe I'm just out of luck, but I figure that it's _got_ to be someplace. . . . Just clarify, this picture comes up as soon as I turn on the computer, and it stays until I press the spacebar, when the login screen appears.
