Windows 10: Windows Spotlight not working

So, months ago, I had Windows Spotlight set as my lock screen. It was working properly until I changed my data usage settings. I changed Limit what Store apps and Windows features can do in the background to always. I suppose that's what messed up the service in the first place. The same picture remained on my lock screen.

Sometime later, I changed it back to never. But the Spotlight service never worked. When I changed the lock screen to spotlight, (I had set it to picture after seeing the same picture over and over), it changed back to picture (that repeating lock screen).

I've ignored it for a while now but I'm getting really frustrated.

Here's what i tried to do in order to solve the issue;


Deleted all files at %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets


Deleted both files at %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\Settings


Reinstalled Spotlight via Powershell -

Get-AppxPackage -allusers *ContentDeliveryManager* | foreach {Add-AppxPackage "$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode -register }


Please help. Nothing is working.

Windows Spotlight on the lock screen

There are multiple causes on why you're encountering this issue. To further troubleshoot the issue, we suggest that you disable and re-enable Spotlight. Simply follow the steps below:

• Right-click on the desktop and open Personalize.
• Open Lock Screen tab.
• Under Background, switch from Windows Spotlight to a Picture or the Slideshow.
• Click OK and close the Window.
• Now Log off and log in.
• Navigate to Lock screen and enable Windows Spotlight again.
