    Windows Startup Repair Loop

So I just installed update 1803 a couple of days ago and everything went fine, I then decided yesterday the PC needs a cleanup so I disconnected it, used an air blower to clean it as usual then put everything together and started the PC. I noticed windows took longer than usual to get to the User Account splash screen before logging in and when it did the screen went grey. I waited a little while and when nothing happened I restarted the PC and this is when the real problem began.

First I was greeted with the startup repair screen, then I got the message that startup repair failed. Tried restarting it several times with the same result but sometimes I'd get the BSOD with an error message that had the word "driver" in it, but I can't remember the complete error message and it stopped showing after a few times.

I tried safe mode, but it won't work.

Tried system restore, but it tells me there's no restore point

Tried booting from the windows 10 usb drive in UEFI mode and tried the repair option, nothing

Even tried the reset option, also nothing.

One thing I noticed though when I tried to scan the drive through the command prompt is the the C partition is no longer MY C partition!

When I start the command prompt I'm in the X partition (which I have no idea where it came from since I only had a C and a D partitions). MY C partition in now labelled F and I have no idea what is inside those other partitions or where they came from.

So I really need to be able to repair windows without having to format the partition and losing my data if possible. Your help would be much appreciated and sorry for the long post.

TL,DR Windows 10 stuck in startup repair loop, no safe mode, no restore and different new partitions showed up.

    :)

  2. Automatic Repair Loop

    Hi Charlene,

Your concern regarding the device going into an Automatic Repair Loop can be caused by change on its settings/configuration or broken system files. To effectively assist you with your concern, can confirm if you've made any changes on your device prior to
    your concern?

As an initial step to get back into the normal Windows screen, we suggest that you perform a
Startup repair. The repair will attempt to fix any broken components/files which may prevent your device from booting properly. To do this, follow the steps below:

    • On theAutomatic Repair screen, select Advanced options.
    • Select Troubleshoot.
    • Select Advanced options.
    • Select Startup Repair.

We'll appreciate if you can send us an update.

Welcome to Ten Forums, Goonsoon. If your windows 10 is activated you can clean install it and it will automatically activate again. You may want to consider that if the situation is an infinite loop of startup repair. This is from the tutorial forum. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1...n-install.html . Just follow the steps, sometimes the only thing to do is start over.
