Windows 10: Windows Store save location only show C: D:, not E F G H???

Hi, sometimes there's no other way. We don't know all the ins and outs of the OS not being its designers.. and it's inevitable sometimes things go wrong we can't correct. I find it sad that MS doesn't create a huge knowledge base of fixes (they used to produce 'Fixits'). But to me Windows' greatest vulnerability is that users and programs can pretty much write all over it.

With that, random corruption, supporting so many platforms, 1000s of applications and devices. it's remarkable the OS survives as well as it does.

It's also clear too many MS responses on technet are standardised and limited, with some exceptions.

MS hasn't moved on from days when disks were tiny. Isolating the OS from programs and users such that it is separately maintainable for the most part from programs and user data would make it so much more reliable. Instead we still struggle to try to persuade users simply to move data off C:.

 

Well I guess since I haven't received any useful help from the Microsoft forums I'll go ahead and try a fresh install as well. Any tips on keeping application data? Or should I just copy over everything from my C: drive onto my E: drive and then reinstall?

 

If you don't wish to try an in-place upgrade repair install (see my post on the 1st page) then
a. Use disk imaging (Macrium Reflect (free) + its boot medium + external storage) to image your system disk.
That way you have a complete backup and won't be frustrated when you find you've forgotten something.
Continue to use disk imaging routinely when you have your first working system, starting by creating a base image.
b. Format your system disk or delete all partitions you don't need
c. Clean install to unallocated space.
d. If you use a SSD make sure your BIOS is set to use AHCI not IDE
