    Hello,

I am trying to install a simple app The new free Windows Terminal and am having serious problems with the windows store and have now wasted a week’s worth of time trying every recommended suggestion, and still nothing works. The same problem also happens for any other app I try to install. Every time I go to install an app, it says “Please try again later. Something happened on our end.”

Also, If I click on the Settings button in the store, the program crashes.

This shows that something is fundamentally broken in the Windows store on my machine.

I would really like to get this solved without having to reinstall Windows.

This post will involve greater detail than what has been presented before, and will likely need a developer to get involved.

Please provide this support to me because the benefit to Microsoft is that they will be able to finally fix this bug.

I have tried every single recommendation that people have been giving since 2016 and not a single one makes any difference.

To recap, the following were tried multiple times and none worked:

    -Running wsreset.exe as administrator

-Ensuring IPv6 is enabled for my wireless network adapter

    -Deleting user cache from AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.WindowsStore_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache

-Running powershell script to reinstall many programs using the Xml manifests

-Disabling anti virus defender and firewall

-Inspecting HOSTS file, ensure nothing funny is in them

-Manually checking for windows updates and installing all of the latest updates

    -Rebooting multiple times

    -File system check with sfc

-Logging in and out of my windows store account I just made a junk account at outlook.com to do this

-Creating a second outlook account for store and trying that one instead

-Ensuring my local account is an administrator

-Running Windows troubleshooter and Store troubleshooter

After a week, nothing worked. So I decided to go into the system logs to see if any useful information was reported. I traversed to this location:

Applications and Service Logs > Microsoft > Windows > Store > Operational

And cleared the log. Then, with the store running, all I did was click “Install” on the app I want and saw the log get populated with several messages. They follow in order below:

Page action fired for Windows Terminal Preview with behavior Install.

    Function: PageAction

    Source: C:\BA\77\s\src\App\Instrumentation\Telemetry\Telemetry.cs 937

ProductActionApis: Starting action 'InstallWithPrompt' with parameters 'Install,9N0DX20HK701,null,'

    Function: StartAndLogOperation

    Source: C:\BA\77\s\src\Tasks\WinStoreTasks\WebApis\ProductActionApis.cs 301

Should not show Volume Chooser - no Volume Chooser conditions met. Default Volume: C:, Available Space: 483745488896, Is System Volume: True, Is Full Trust Volume: True, Product Size: 18821120, Is Product Full Trust: True, Is SD Card Opt-Out: False

    Function: ShouldShowVolumeDialogAsync

    Source: C:\BA\77\s\src\App\ViewModels\Dialogs\VolumeChooserDialogViewModel.cs 329

TryInstallWithDialog: Wanting to show None dialog for product 9N0DX20HK701 - Windows Terminal Preview, install type Install, catalogId

    Function: TryInstallWithDialogs

    Source: C:\BA\77\s\src\App\Acquisition\InstallHelper.cs 135

InstallManager-BeginInstall threw exception for app 9N0DX20HK701.

    Exception Details: System.Exception

    Function: BeginInstall

    Source: C:\BA\77\s\src\App\Acquisition\DefaultAppInstallManager.cs 452

    InstallManager-Finally 9N0DX20HK701

    Function: BeginInstall

    Source: C:\BA\77\s\src\App\Acquisition\DefaultAppInstallManager.cs 460

ProductActionApis: Completed action 'InstallWithPrompt' with parameters 'Install,9N0DX20HK701,null,', Result: RanToCompletion

    Function: StartAndLogOperation

    Source: C:\BA\77\s\src\Tasks\WinStoreTasks\WebApis\ProductActionApis.cs 306

So clearly the offending event is this one:

InstallManager-BeginInstall threw exception for app 9N0DX20HK701.

Which is occurring on line 452 of a file named DefaultAppInstallManager.cs

Can you please flag down a developer and try to find what exactly the exception is that’s being thrown?

I am a senior developer myself who has been working with MS products for over 20 years. And a generally good practice is to actually log the Message portion of an exception so a troubleshooter can see what exactly went wrong. However, with the current log, all it tells us is *where* the problem happened, and not *why* it happened.

As I stated above, I have lost a full week on this problem and would very much like to have it resolved. I am happy to talk offline via email or other method with a developer to get this fixed, whatever it takes.

    Thank you.

    :)

These steps did not help my issue with the Windows Store. Are there any other suggestions?
