Windows 10: Windows 'System Image' backup error on Dell TabletPC

Greetings againI have a Dell Latitude 7275 Tablet/PC which is really practical to have. I keep my installations on all my computers clean i.e. no games, no viruses, no downloaded apps or programs or even music apps. They are truly all work computers and all connected through my Microsoft account. I backup regularly and before each backup on each computer, I clean out the system files no longer needed through the 'Disk Cleanup' app which comes native to Windows 10. So there really is no clutter.All my machines run Windows 10 Pro and servers run Windows Server 2019.Each machine has more than onc

@injaneb, thanks you put me on the right track! In my case there were 2 extra steps:

1. The extra EFI was not on the C disk but on the J disk (the target of the backup) which was an external USB. I don't know why an EFI was made there. To remove that EFI partition, follow these instructions [1] carefully. I needed only the instructions using the built-in diskpart tool. Just make sure you selected the right disk!
2. Before redoing the backup, delete the files on J: (the target disk) that were created by the previous botched backup. Their existence would cause exactly the same error code to show up.

W10 System Image Backup

When I use the W10 System Image Backup, it hangs at the step where it says it is "Preparing to create backup" and eventually times out leaving error codes 0x80780021 and 0x81000101. How do I fix this? My machine is Dell XP13, Core I7, 8th Gen, 500 SSD
and the hard drive is encrypted, but the backup says it will save an unencrypted version on my external backup hard drive.
