I talked with Canon thinking this was an issue with the printer or drivers, but they had us restart the WIA service and it resolved the issue. Then went on to state I need to open a ticket with Microsoft to resolve this. I have a few things I'm considering looking into and trying like checking windows 10 version maybe the latest feature update doesn't have this problem. But the user affected has been dealing with this for over a month and had no issues with Windows Scan other then quality of the scan, but the DPI between or Canon MF Scan Utility and Windows scan are no different. I'm consider

  2. Windows 10 Canon MX850 Printer

    Hello,

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Try the printer diagnostic utility as this resolves many common printer issues including scanner.

The printer diagnostic utility comes along with printer/ printer software.

Restart the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) Service and then check for the issue. WIA provides image acquisition services for Scanners and Printers.

Follow the below steps for the same:

    • Press Windows Key + R Key, in the box type “services.msc”
      without quotes.
    • Click on the service which is present at the top of the program list.
    • Scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition
      (WIA).
    • Double click on it and click the Dependencies tab
    • Make sure, all services Windows
Image Acquisition depends on, are running
    • Switch to "Recovery" tab, and change all 3 drop-down boxes to
      "Restart the Service".
    • Make sure the 2 Reset boxes underneath say "1" in them.
    • Click Ok.
Hope the information helps. Do reply if you need further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

    Thank you.

  3. Image Acquisition, Scanner problems with Windows 10

Scanner capability not operational on my Canon Imageclass MF5750 printer after installation of Windows 10. I was told by Canon tech support that it was a problem with Windows regarding "Image Acquisition". Any suggestions other than another printer.
    Thank you, Ray

    Windows Image Acquisition service

This seems like a bug to me, but just be sure. Every time I turn off and turn on the printer/scanner I have to restart the Windows Image Acquisition service in order to have Windows access to it. Mind 'Restart' not 'Start' as it is automatically started,
the service just doesn't connect the scanner after switching on.
