Windows 10: Windows update 1803 to 1809 on external drive

I need to update my windows from 1803 to 1903 may update but im running windows from an external usb drive. I tried running windows 10 update assistant .exe but as soon as it finished downloading new version it says that I couldn't update windows thats from bootable usb. so how do I update my version of windows?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

External Seagate Drive not appearing after Creators Update
