Windows 10: Windows update, 1803 to 1906/1909 failed

Hi, I have been having this prevailing problem where many others are having the same issue I am facing.


My laptop keeps failing to update from version 1803. This is what I have tried so far which have not worked:

- setting, windows update

- downloaded the installer, update rolls back

- downloaded the media creation tool, update rolls back. I have gotten the error 0xC1900101 - 0x30018 before The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE operation

- windows update assistant, update rolls back


I have been searching forums and I think I have done all that has been mentioned before:

- IIS was never on

- Windows update reset

- DISM / SFC

- Anti-virus uninstall

- Cleared the software distribution folder


Would like some guidance on this as self-remedy does not seem to help me at the moment.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Windows 10 update fails with the error

Hello Everyone,

After going thru all suggestions - Windows update is still failing.

I am updating from 1803 to November 19 update 1909.

Third party Antivirus is removed.

Executed Widnows update diag program wu10.diagcab

Using Windows standalone updater: Windows10Upgrade9252.exe

Executed the steps suggested by Jeffrey.

Error is not yet resolved.

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
