Windows 10: Windows Update Crashing PC

I have a DELL PC running Windows 10 Pro: Version 10.0.19041 Build 19041 64 bit System

KB4580419 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 & 4.8 is downloaded and installed with a status of "Pending Restart".
Restarting the PC shuts down and attempts to restart but hangs before any Windows messages are displayed. Only the rotating circle of dots is displayed but then stops rotating.
There is no disk activity and no further action I have waited 24 hours!!.
Forcing a PC restart gives message to say Windows Update failed and system is being cleaned.
After this the PC is ready for use.
However, Windows Update automatically downloads KB4580419 again , installs it and schedules a restart.


Event Log shows:-

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007001E: Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2.

Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x8007001E: 2020-11 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version 2004 for x64 KB4580419.



I DON'T KNOW HOW to BREAK THIS LOOP - can anyone help?

I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

ive watch my temps and both the cpu and gpu are within normal ranges. when it freezes it simply freezes the image and stops the sound. i must reboot to get back to windows.

 

Windows Updates crashing and unable to login to PC

As per the manufacturer’s website, your PC is compatible
only with Windows 7 & 8. This could be the cause for the system crash.

If you wish to pause the updates for a while, you may check with the steps listed below in the article -

• Schedule a restart or pause updates in Windows 10
  
  
• Defer feature updates in Windows 10
  
  

However, I would also suggest you to get in touch with the PC manufacturer to know if there are any latest drivers available, that is compatible to run Windows 10 on your machine.
