Windows 10: Windows Update Does Not Detect Headset

I plug in my headphones and they half work: I hear sound out of them. However, Windows does not display them in the devices list.


The most recent update has made it impossible for me to use them as a mic because of this. Before the update, I have always plugged in my headphones and used them for put input and output sound with no issue. It would automatically switch from the computer's speakers and pick up the headset as an input device as well. This update is forcing me to manually switch from my computer's default mic to the headphones--but I cannot find them. Windows is not detecting them.


I have been struggling to talk to a friend for an hour because of the new update. My head is pounding and I'm entirely unhappy.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

Headset Mics not detected

This issue may have been caused by an outdated driver.

• Is the headset detected under Device manager?

Meanwhile, to help resolve your concern, we suggest that you run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter. To do this, follow these steps:

• On the Start menu, type Troubleshooting, and then hit
  Enter.
  
• On the left pane, click View all.
  
• Select and run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

USB headset not detected

I have a Koss CS95-USB headset that work flawlessly with windows 7. After upgrading to windows 10 the headset does not work at all. Windows 10 does not even act as if it detects the device being plugged in. No pop-up saying a new device is detected, no
device in the device manager to even look at. I have looked at all the problem post about USB headset and tried all the solution listed but non of them are useful because they all rely on updating or changing the installed driver and since my device doesn't
even get detected no driver is installed to change.

If anybody has a solution or if someone can give me a USB headset model that definitely works with windows 10 that would be very helpful.
