Windows 10: Windows Update doesn't work

Hi,
I'm using Windows 10 Home 64-bit OS x64-based processor Version 20H2 on a HP 15-f387 Notebook PC
Processor: AMD A8-7410 APU with AMD Radeon R5 Graphics 2.20 GHz
Installed RAM: 8.00 GB 6.94 GB usable
Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 20H2
Installed on ‎6/‎25/‎2020
OS build 19042.630

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.31.0


I've been unable to download and install some Windows 10 Updates in Settings > Windows Update. These include 2021-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for 64x based Systems KB4598242 and Security Update for Windows KB4592438. There's the same error code for each failed update: 0x8007000d.


I've opened Services numerous times as Administrator to be sure Windows Update, BITS Service, Software Protection Service, Update Orchestrator Service, Windows Installer Service, Windows Module Installer Service, Windows Update Service, and Windows Update Medic Service are all running. Every time I open Services, they've reverted to a stopped state. I don't know fore sure if all the above are needed to be started in order to successfully install the Windows Updates, but I believe some are.



I tried to download the Updates from the Microsoft Update Catalog, but I get the same error code: 0x8007000d



I opened the Speccy program, and saw: Windows Update AutoUpdate Not configured

I don't know how to configure it to be AutoUpdate.


I started following the advice found on this website: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/error-code-0x8007000d-windows-10-update-fails-why/6d9c2b37-d2df-4afb-97bd-8945ffe78f15 but when I ran Command Prompt as Administrator as suggested, and typed in the suggested commands from the website the commands returned the following:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>Ren C:\Windows\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
A duplicate file name exists, or the file cannot be found.

I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter twice, and the first time the results showed "Potential Windows Update Database error detected. Fixed and "Repair Windows Update Database Corruption" Completed." Windows Update still doesn't work.


I checked the CBS.log properties before running sfc /scannow to make sure the CBS.log wasn't set to Read Only, because it often reverts to Read Only which seems to prevent it from completing successfully. Then I ran sfc /scannow and at completion a message appeared: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located atwindir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. The CBS.log file contains many mentions about "lock". I can copy the CBS.log and attach it if needed.


Can anyone suggest a way to fix Windows Update? I'd be very grateful for anyone's help.

I`m sorry I had not noticed that the text on the picture was in spanish. It says that windows has replaced some damaged clusters in "name" file and "directory". Then, at the end "an unspecified error occurred (75736e6a726e6c2e 4f6)".

I`ll do it and I`ll be updating this thread when I have the report.

Scanner doesn´t work anymore after last Windows 10 update

As many people on the internet already are discussing, their scanner doesn´t work anymore after the last Windows update. But there seem to be no solution.

My Scanner starts making noises, as usual, and then i get error messages: "Communication with the scanner is not possible"

Is there a workaround for that?

I deleted all my data. I had have it backed up.

I did a clean installation using the windows media creation tool (usb option).

No, I didn`t. I thought a clean installation would solve the problem.

After posting my previous message, I did it.





After chkdsk, I close cmd and tried to boot and the laptop just turned it off. This morning I`ve restarted it and automatically windows did a repair. Windows has booted and it seems that the repair tool has removed chrome and acrobat pdf reader (the only two programs I had installed after reinstalling windows).

Now Windows is installing updates and restarting my lapop, I`m kind of frightened. I don`t want it to happen again. Anyhow, I want to know what has brought the issue

I`ve been looking for information about the error code at the end of the picture and I didn`t get anywhere.
