    Hello to the community.
    George from Greece here and I start my posts with a problem (what else?). *Sad
    When I try to download and install my two updates ( Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081455) and Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3081452) ) I get the error code 0x80070246 for both of them.
    I tried simple things like restarting, using the troubleshooting to solve any issues, I downloaded the file named WindowsUpdateDiagnostic and run that too with no success.

    I figured that it might be a problem with GlobalInstallOrder.xml like the one described here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/942968
    but I couldn't apply the sollution, maybe because of the different OS.

    I also downloaded the standalone updates and tried to install them but I get an error every time.

    So now I'm stuck.
    I would appreciate solutions that don't include refreshing or formatting as there are a ton of apps that I will have to manually install.
    I have an Acer 5942G, 8 Gigs of ram, a 256 Gb Crucial SSD, i7 720 QM and a 5650m.
    Windows are x64.

    • 2018-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4088776) - Error 0x80070246

    • 2018-03 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4088785) - Error 0x80070246

    Any solution ?

  3. 1511 Upgrade Fails during 'Install features and drivers'

    I have attempted to install the 1511 upgrade twice. Each time it fails during the 'Install Features and Drivers' step at about 27%. The system then reboots and reinstalls the previous version of Windows (Windows 10). The error code reported is 8024A206.
    There is 56GB of free space on the boot drive. I do not use any SD cards. There are no external hard files plugged in. There are three other updates that have repeatedly failed to install during the past month. They are:

    • Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3105213) - Error 0x80246013

    • Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3103688) - Error 0x80070246

    • Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3106932) - Error 0x80070246

    You can always try Protector's solution...

    press WindowsKey+R, type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
    Click "Computer Configuration", click "Administrative Templates", click "System", and then double-click the "Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair" setting.
    Select "Enabled", click check box for "Contact Windows Update directly...." - apply and OK

    Type CMD in Search. Right click on it to run as an administrator. (You can also right-click on the start button and select "Command Prompt (Admin)")
    Type the following 5 commands at the CMD prompt:


    >WSReset.exe (go back to the cmd screen and press ctrl-c to get the prompt back)
    >dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    >dism /online /cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup
    >sfc /scannow
    >powershell
    >Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}


    Close the CMD window.
    Check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, restart the PC.

    Solution mentioned by hexagon12 are the generic steps to deal with any windows store error. While these don't guarantee the fix but helps most of the time...

    In addition, Try and use the Inbuilt troubleshooter as well.

    Yes, I have used the troubleshooter already with no luck.

    Try running the following commands in administrator mode

    sfc /scannow

    and then

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Unfortunately I faced problems on many steps of the process.
    1. "specify settings for optional component installation and component repair" was fine.
    2. "WSReset.exe" opened windows store, I guess it's also fine.
    3. "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" please see screenshot:

    6. "powershell" gave me "PS C:\Windows\system32>" so I guess it's fine.

    I checked Windows update after that and restarted and rechecked with no luck.

    Did you run cmd with "run as administrator"?
    Also, sorry. I am on mobile and your pictures are blurry. Can you send me the pictures with the snipping tool?
    The only thing that i see is that in the DISM command you missed the dash in /cleanup - image

    Yes, of course I run it as admin, you can see it on the top of the Cmd window.
    Um...sorry, I can't find the dash that I missed. Actually I copy pasted, so I think all the commands are fine.

    Thanks to you for posting the pictures. Now that i see, i think the powershell command actually passed without errors! About that 582 error on DISM; i will search for information about that. BRB soon with information!

    That's right, powrshell is fine.
    The problem with the illegal character is generally what I think causes the whole problem.
