Windows 10: Windows Update Error 0x80070643 for Windows Defender

Still having issues updating Windows Defender as of 4/3/17, 12:30pm CDT on 10 Pro winver 14393.969 . Windows Update shows Error 0x80070643 but manual update via Defender GUI installed latest virus/spyware definition 1.239.713.0. Re-running Window Update shows everything is up to date.

It's been at least 4 days since this glitch first appeared on my machines. Any thoughts on why Microsoft is delaying a fix? Perhaps to include in next Patch Tuesday 4/11?

Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.215.2267.0) - Error 0x80070643

Hello,

I am using windows 10 Home Single

While updating windows defender I get a connection failed error whereas, if I try updating through windows update I get this error "Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (Definition 1.215.2267.0) - Error 0x80070643".

There were problems installing some updates

These are the 2 errors occur today's update:

• Definition Update for Windows Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Definition 1.261.127.0) - Error 0x80070643
• Update for Windows Defender antimalware platform - KB4052623 (Version 4.12.17007.18011) - Error 0x80070643

According to Dona Sarkar they have "not seen" that problem, I hope that in the time that has elapsed since the publication of that tweet they already have seen the problem.

I also got that error. Now I update from windows defender and then try windows update. Now I don't get error as defender is updated.

 

Thank you @jyim89 for this. Funnily enough I have been able to update Defender (through windows update or from Defender itself) with no problem at all - unlike many others, judging by the large number of threads that have popped up over the last day.

You may like to comment on this particular thread, as it pertains to this problem affecting the Creators Update...

Same issue for me. tried the solution offered here, the problem still persists. manual updates through Windows Defender do work.
Below is the MpCmdRun.txt file generated after manually trying to remove all Definitions and reload.

Me too exactly like marsmimar on about 15 pc some with Windows 10 Pro and some with Windows 10 Home.

The only one without this issue is mine ... Windows 10 Pro.

All seems to be back to normal for me as of this morning. tried initiating an update three times over the course of the past hour, all requests were processed with no errors.
