Windows 10: Windows Update error 0x8024402f

This is my error: "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x8024402f)"

I've tried everything mentioned here and in other forums and nothing has worked...

I'm out of things to try...

 

Any help on this? This is my 3rd reformat for Windows 10 and it's doing the same thing. This is a fresh install. The very 1st time I installed Win10 Enterprise, with the same exact ISO I got from Microsoft, everything was running fine with Windows Update. The only thing different I did this time is that I disconnected the LAN cable from my computer "during" the reinstallation of Windows 10 because I did not want it to auto-download/install device drivers. So the order was:

1.) Reinstalled Win10 Enterprise x64 without LAN cable plugged.
2.) Changed the setting in system properties to prevent Windows from auto-installing device drivers.
3.) Installed all updated device drivers and software.
4.) The NVIDIA driver needed Internet connection so that it can download Visual C++ Redistributable, so I disabled the "Windows Update" service, plugged in the LAN cable, and went ahead and proceeded with the NVIDIA GPU driver installation.
5.) Changed the startup type of the Windows Update service back to "Manual" and restarted the computer.
6.) When I initiate the Windows Update check, it fails with the same 0x8024402f no matter what I do.

As I've mentioned, this is the 3rd (or even 4th, I can't remember) reformat already with the same exact result. I bet that if I keep the LAN cable connected during the reinstallation, everything will be fine but I don't want to do that because it downloads unnecessary device drivers.

I've been trying for hours to fix this problem and this is the only thing that worked for me.

 

Got this today on Fast Ring version 16188. I cleared it up by turning on "Updates from more than One Place"

I had to do a cold install. There was some sort of malware running that prevented Windows Update from running and caused this error. I tried the Windows Update Troubleshooter which downloaded this program wu170509.diagcab and it said it "fixed" the errors:

It was a false fix as Windows Update would run once (without updating anything) and then go back to the error. I had to do a cold install but only after scanning all my other hard drives for any leftover malware. So far, so good.

 

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. Seeing your post made me run WU just now and got a Windows Defender update. Runs smooth.

Maybe the enabling of ActiveX options has something to do with it too. I don't use IE, but a post offered it as a possible fix.
