Windows 10: Windows Update Error Code 0x80080005

This is regarding a Windows Update issue I am facing since some time. Whenever I use the Check for Updates button located in the Settings, it shows me the following error:"There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: 0x80080005".


I have tried this multiple times now, without any success.


I used the Get Help app/Microsoft chat bot support to help resolve this. On sharing the error code, it advised with two solutions.


First solution is as follows -

You need to run both the DISM and SFC commands shown below, not just one of them, and you need to run DISM first and SFC second.

1. Open an elevated command prompt. Right-clickStart, and then select **Command Prompt Admin.**If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow or Yes.

1. Type the following command, and then press Enter.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
​

Note It might take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.
​

1. Type the following command and press Enter.

​

sfc /scannow
​

Note It might take several minutes for the command operation to be completed.
​

1. Close the command prompt, and then run Windows Update again.

​

Second solution is as follows -

Download the Windows Update Reset Tool

After it downloads, open the .zip file, and run theResetWUEng file.

Both the solutions did not work and the same error shows. Can you potentially help resolve this?

Sorry? Have you got the correct Tweaking .com's repair tool? Or followed the steps to the end where you actually do the numbered repairs?




- If you had followed all the steps I'd have expected it to take a bit longer.

suggests the error number may occur where one of the OTHER drives has a problem.

Your specs don't say whether you have other drives installed.

Anyway, worth using Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) - the best text summary of such programs I've seen- to check your disks. Failing that check SMART params and do a surface scan with something else.
