Windows 10: Windows update error.How do I block this update????

Hi,

This update is causing problems.
2017-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for amd64-based Systems (KB4048955)

I restart and then after it boots up I get this message:

We could not complete the updates. Undoing changes


How do I block this certain update please?. Thank you.

I have a Microsoft windows 950 its not allowing me to download the facebook app it keeps sayng error.how can I fix that issue?

 

Have a look in the tutorial section to reset the windows update settings. worth trying i reckon *Smile

Have you tried updating with your anti virus turned off? some block system file changes. In terms of turning this one update off, im not fully sure how you do this. Was back in the day where you right clicked on the update and selected hide update, not too sure if thats still able to be done but sure someone will jump on and advise *Smile

 

i don't even have an anti virus and windows defender is disabled (its not working)

 

Wonder if its possible that a disabled/not working defender could be the cause? A quick google search didnt suggest this to be the case but thinking of all the variables lol *Smile

 

Same here, I can not get this update to install, it happens sometimes, I will just wait for the next one.

No, I did a clean install yesterday and still no go. I will skip this one. I have got no issues, so I do not need a "quality" update.

 

I have created a batch script to reset Windows update components to there default settings. Execute the batch script as a administrator. Before executing the batch file save and close all running program because you will have to restart your computer.

I was also not able to install KB4048955 after trying about ten times. (I would always see the message "awaiting restart" on the Windows Update section in Settings...and restarting wouldn't get rid of that message). When I tried installing the file manually (after downloading it from the Microsoft Update Catalog) I would get the message "We couldn't complete the updates Undoing changes".

I had recently disable the SearchUI and SearchIndexer Processes because they were hogging resources. In an effort to fix the windows update problem, I re-enabled these processes...and after doing so, KB4048955 installed successfully!

how did you disable them? i see many ways to disable them but not sure which way is the right one.
