Windows 10: Windows Update fails with error 0x800703e6

    Windows Update fails with error 0x800703e6


    Attempting to install KB4023057 or most other updates I've tried fails with error 0x800703e6. The Windows Update troubleshooter detects a problem and tries to repair it, but subsequent updates still do not succeed.scf /scannow fails with "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service."dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth fails with "Invalid access to memory location."

    Feature Update for Windows 10, Version 1903 – error 0x800703e6

    I hoped by the time this update would get functional on my system:

    Windows 10 Pro

    Version 1809

    Build 17763.253

    Now before the next feature update I search for help here:

    Due to the cbs.log the update ends each time after looping through the UpdateIds with no success to get access to wcp.dll and cbscore.dll. This is the end of the log:

    Here is what the error code means:

    0x800703e6

    Invalid access to memory location.

    Step 1:

    Press: Windows key

    Type: disk cleanup

    run disk cleanup as Administrator

    scan C drive

    select "Windows update cleanup" checkbox

    Hit OK to clean up drive

    reboot system

    try to update again

    Step 2:

    If previous step doesn't work

    Press: Windows key

    type: Settings hit enter

    type: Trouble

    select: "Troubleshoot settings"

    Let troubleshooter try to solve the problem.

    reboot system

    Try to update again

    Step 3:

    Download the script by clicking on a script name button, save to C:\ drive root

    Right click on start button

    select Powershell (Administrator)

    Copy/paste bellow code into the console:

    Hit Enter and wait for operation to complete

    reboot system

    try update again.

    You are interested in following recovery options in this order:

    1. Restore from a system restore point

    2. Reset your PC

    Windows Updates failed to instal

    I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time
