Windows 10: Windows Update fails with error 0x800706ba

My Windows Update screen says:


Updates Failed



Your device is missing important security and quality fixes.



There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help:



2018-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4462919) - Error 0x800706ba


When I hit the Retry button, it searches for updates for 15 seconds or so, then returns to the error screen above. Rebooting the machine does not change anything. What should I do? Thanks!

For the DM_log_collector, I don't think you are using an Elevated Command Prompt. If you were, the prompt window would look like this:

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

I received an error during the installation of the Windows 10 onto my USB. Please see the image.



Currently it is asking me to Format my USB Drive (E before I can use it again. There was no files on the USB when I started the installation.

I'm retrying the installation a second time now.
