Windows 10: Windows Update KB5004342 & KB5012643 causes USB-C port malfunction

This recent windows update of KB5004342 & KB5012643 causes prompt of "USB device you connected to this computer is malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it" to popup when a device is connected to my laptop USB-C ports. Firstly, I have tried uninstalling the USB drivers and reboot to allow windows to install it again as an attempt to check whether my USB ports are faulty. USB 3.0 works fine after reboot but the same problem of "USB device you connected to this computer is malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it" still persist on my USB-C portsThe devices used with the USB-C

This could be due to the USB port driver is outdated. Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if it helps to resolve the issue. I recommend you to uninstall and reinstall the USB port driver and check. Follow the below information provided.

  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device manager.
  
• 
  Locate for Universal Serial Bus Controller and expand it.
  
• 
  Right click on the USB port driver and click on
  uninstall.
  
• 
  Once uninstall is done, restart the computer.
  

If the issue still persist I would suggest you to contact to the computer manufacturer and update the chipset driver.

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.

USB Malfunction

I have Windows 7 64 bit on my ASUS laptop and am having problems with the USB for my ddr mat.

USB headset, mouse, keyboard all work. The DDR mat driver installs and works on other computers and laptops but on my laptop it gives me a driver not found, USB has malfunctioned/damaged. I have tried it in all of the different USB ports on the laptop, nothing works.

Any ideas?
