Windows 10: Windows update messed up my gpu and igpu!

Hello,I have a asus rog strix g16 with an intel i9-14900hx and a nvidia rtx 4060 along with 32 GB of ram. I also have an intel UHD igpu as well. I was forced to do the lates windows update that being 24H2. Before the update I could run roblox with about 200-240+ frames plugged in and the screen was smooth, I could also run pal world on high settings with 60+ frames and so on with other games. But after the update I would have around 150 or less frames on roblox with the lows as low as 20 frames! and similar worse performance on other games. I cant even multitask without my screen being so chop

Cannot force game to use iGPU even after changing setting

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Restart your computer after changing the graphics settings for the application. Sometimes the new settings don't take effect until after a restart
   
2. Ensure that both your graphics drivers and Windows are fully updated. Sometimes, driver updates can resolve issues with GPU selection
   
3. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
   
   • Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2 or Delete during boot).
     
   • Look for settings related to graphics or GPU. Ensure that the iGPU is enabled and set as the primary GPU if possible.
     
4. Check if there is a setting in the Intel Graphics Command Center or Dell Power Manager software to force the use of the iGPU. Some laptop manufacturers provide utilities to override Windows' GPU selection.
   
5. As a last resort, you can temporarily disable the dGPU (Intel Iris Xe MAX Graphics) from Device Manager. This will force Windows to use the iGPU, but may impact performance for GPU-accelerated applications.
   

If none of these steps work, there may be an issue with the GPU drivers or Windows is not properly detecting/handling the dual GPU configuration on your laptop. In that case, you may need to contact Dell support for further assistance.

having issues with multi GPU

I’m trying to offload certain apps to my iGPU on the second screen, using the new graphics settings in the recent win 10 release. the issue is it’s only showing my 1070. lists it as both power saving GPU, and
high performance GPU.

I’ve been fiddling for a while now with no joy, and i’m really hoping one of you guys has an idea they can suggest to sort this!

I can extend onto the second screen no probs with it plugged into the iGPU, but the 1070 is still listed as both power saving GPU and high performance GPU.

Are there requirements for this? certain level of iGPU for it to work?

Edit - setting the secondary screen connected to the iGPU to be the "main" display in graphics settings makes my iGPU show as both power saving and high performance GPU, I just can't seem to get them
to be one and not the other.

 

GPU turning off randomly, PC on iGPU running fine.

There has been a development since I posted this, my monitor lost signal today when it was connected to the iGPU and the discrete GPU was disconnected. Is there anything I should do apart from RMAing the motherboard?
