Windows 10: Windows Update October 2018 caused my audio sound to disappear

I lost my sound after the latest Microsoft update. I have an HP Pavilion x360 laptop with Windows 10. Can anyone help?

Has Microsoft provided a solution to reinstall the audio output device, an issue created by its October 2018 update?

This issue might occur if some of the sound settings got corrupted.

I suggest you to try running audio troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• 
  Type Troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar and select
  Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Select Playing Audio under
  Sound and follow the on screen.

favorites disappear after upgrading pc to October 2018 update

After installing the October 2018 update to my sp3, my favorites on my Lumia950 have completely disappeared. There appears to be an issue with favorites sync.
