Windows 10: Windows Update Standalone Installer error 0x80096002 in Windows 10

When I am trying to install Windows Virtual PC on my Dell 7577 win10 I am getting the error "Windows Update Standalone Installer error 0x80096002 in Windows 10. The certificate for the signer of the message is invalid or not found". Also, I am not able able able to change the compatibility mode because it doesn't show it. My system is 64 bit.

I have a Lenovo laptop. I upgraded from Windows 8 to 10. I'm now trying to download Bitlocker from the Microsoft website and I get the following error:

Installer encountered an error: 0x80096002

The certificate for the signer of the message is invalid or not found

I have downloaded windows search 4.0 from the below link.

I am getting same error as " Windows update Standalone installer

installer encountered an error : 0x80096002 , The certificate for the signer of the message is invalid or not found" when I install.

I tried to follow the steps as you said in the above post , but there is no compatibility option present.

• Download the software setup file from the link.
• Right-click on the setup file and click on properties.
• Click on the compatibility tab, check the box Run this program in compatibility mode for, select Windows 10 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done,restart the
  computer and check if the changes are effective.

Can you please suggest , how to proceeed further. My outlook is instant search is not working because of this software missing.

 

Windows Search Standalone Installer error 0x80096002

I'm using Windows 10 and trying to install Windows Search 4.0, filename: "Windows6.0-KB940157-x86.msu", to compliment Outlook 2010, but I keep getting the forever persistent standalone installer error 0x80096002.

I never had a problem with windows search in Outlook 2010 in Windows 8, or when I upgraded to Windows 10. I built a new computer and installed a fresh Windows 10 and that's where the error code 0x80096002 began, attempting to add windows search to Outlook
2010.

Is there a specific solution to my windows search issue, recognizing that error 0x80096002 seems to be a generic response for assorted problems.

Other than that, my PC runs and performs as it should, no virus's found and sfc scan validates system integrity.
