Windows 10: windows update stuck looking for updates, windows update troubleshooter stuck checking for...

Windows update has been stuck looking for updates for over a week, despite trying to pause it. I've tried running the trouble shooter for windows update but this sticks looking for pending updates. Where do I go next? I'm on version 1909 of windows 10. On previous mentions of this problem various command prompt sequences are suggested but I keep getting access denied when I try any of these. I'm not overly techy - what do I do next?

Is this why my Service Host: Network Service Delivery Optimization is constantly running about 17% of CPU?

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

Win10: Windows update is stuck at never ending loop ? ( Last Win10 updates in 2017 ). Can't update the laptop. Genuine Win10 on a HP 2015 17.3" laptop that originally had Win8. ( CPU:AMD A9, GPU:Radeon R5 ).

If I download this below file does it manually install the latest updates of Win10 (=2018 April Update) without losing any files currently on the machine ? ( Mainly paid Office 2013 )

Windows updates causing lockup

Hi guys.

No, I cant even get the update screen. I cant find a answer on the internet.

Start -> all programs --> windows update --> check for updates.

10 seconds later, complete system lock up requiring a hard reboot. If I try to install a printer that needs to check windows update, same thing.

I even tried the windows update troubleshooter http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Windows-Update-troubleshooter

Then that program 'checks for solutions online', and then hard lock again. VERY frustrating. What would be causing this?
