Windows 10: Windows Update - stuck on 1709 - Error 0x8007001F - 0x20006

I've been trying and failing basically every solution I can find for over a year now, but cannot get my Windows to update successfully. I had given up, but now it's at the point where apps won't install until I have a newer version of Windows.


The Windows Update window in Settings gives me the "A current driver on your PC may be better" error.


Windows Update Troubleshooter gives me the incredible solution of informing me that my PC has pending updates.


Media Creation Tool gives me the following error:


"We couldn't install Windows 10

We've set your PC back to the way it was just before you started installing Windows 10

0x8007001F - 0x20006
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during REPLICATE_OC operation"

I've tried:

-Disconnecting all drives but C:\

-Using symlink to have the update folder on a drive with more free space

-Using third party software, Windows Update MiniTool

-Running Windows Update Assistant

-Manually installing update MSI files


Nothing so far is giving me any luck. If anyone here has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it.

I followed the steps but I got the same error message as I got when I tried the suggestion of DaveM121 -- 0x8007001F-0x20006

The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during the REPLICATE_OC operation.

 

Error 0x8007001F - 0x20006 when updating

So you need more details in order to try to diagnose this symptom and you may find some simply by trying to learn more about the context of this 0x20006 (Extend) code.

Could you please confirm what version of windows you are using. The Windows update log says 1607 and then one with 1803.

Windows Key + R, type winver, enter

Do you have a iso for your current version? (1609, 1703, 1709)

It maybe necessary to run sfc /scannow three times to repair errors.

I assume the Features they are mentioning are

Click Start > type Control Panel, enter, Programs, Under the Heading Programs and Features....
