Windows 10: Windows Update Version 1803 Fails to Install

Hello,

I am currently running Windows 10. I believe I am on Version 1709. For the past few months I have repeatedly tried to update to version 1803. On a few occasions it was voluntary, on most of the attempts it was a forced update by Windows. Either way, the result has always been the same; the update freezes, usually at the 94-95% range, and stays there for several hours.

I've tried leaving it on to update overnight, I've left it on while I've been at work, I've tried to wait upwards of 12 hours in one session, and every time the result has been the same.

Tonight, I had a breakthrough and it actually went to 100%... and then it immediately said "Initializing Installation" and went to "Preparing to Install" and then restarted the installation.

I... I don't know what's going on. It already installed. I wasn't downloading before. I was installing; it said 100% and now it's installing... again.

I first tried this update on 5/22/18. I tried it three times in May. Another three times in June. This is now my seventh attempt in July.

I disabled my anti-virus, yes. I even uninstalled Avira completely and switched to Windows Defender thinking that surely Windows Defender wouldn't have problems with a Windows Update.

This isn't even the first time I had issues with Windows Update. After a previous update, my PC would restart itself on its own, even when I was in the middle of stuff, and ultimately the only solution was to roll-back that update.

Why does it seem like every Windows Update either breaks my PC, or just doesn't work at all?

Windows Updates failed to instal

I just did step one and they have just all installed.... thank you so much.... it was quite frustrating having that update window pop up every 5 minutes and failing to instal every time

Latest win10 Update 1803 cant install?

I am having a issue with this update,. I fallow the steps via windows update, DL the update, shows install. ask me to reboot pc. after reboot its start the update install pc reboot several times. On the last time, I get a message saying" Restoring windows to previous version". Then it takes me back to windows, and i get a message update could not be installed.
In windows update-control panel it shows update waiting for reboot. i click on it and does same thing. after install it restore to previous version. what is going on?
I have disable windows firewall for time being.

Z97 Pro gamer MB 4790k @4.7 DDR3 2400 RAM Win10 x64 M.2 and SSD.
