Windows 10: Windows update "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes", but no new...

Version: 2004

OS Build: 19041.388

Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2202.130.0


I have an error message in Windows Update saying "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes". I have the ability to click on "Check for updates", and an optional quality update to Windows 10, version 20H2. For either button, I get a loading animation for several seconds, and then a return to the same screen. No updates pop up and clicking on "Download and install" for the optional update also just loads for a little and returns me to the same page.


I tried to uninstall all recent updates, but after I logged in again, it seems as though the updates are still there, but just without the option to uninstall anymore.


I did try to update a couple days ago and ended up getting a page fault blue screen so I'm guessing there's something wrong with Windows Update, but the troubleshooter does not find anything.


I ran sfc and also memtest overnight and both found no options so I don't think it's a hardware issue.


Anyone able to provide some help? Also please let me know if you need more information to help. Thanks

Thank you. Below are screen shots from Hard Disk Sentinel, as well as Crystal Disk, which is what I normally use for checking disk health.













I see now about the ISO file now. I can just run it in Windows Explorer and then click on the Setup.exe file inside the ISO file to run it, correct?

At this point I am wondering if I should take any other steps first before running the ISO file and doing the install?

I will of course make a drive image first using Acronis before running it though.

Hi there,

Windows updates are available, however the system does not update these nor lets me do it manually. This message shows: Your device is missing important security and quality fixes, and a list of 6 pending download updates are listed below.

I followed the steps I could find in this community from other users having similar difficulties in the past and it didn't fix it.

Please help.
