Windows 10: Windows Updates Stuck on Pending Download Since Updating to Build 1909 Resetting Windows...

Since being forced to upgrade to Windows 10 Build 1909 in February 2020 all future updates, with the exception of Windows Defender, i.e. Windows Security remain in a Pending Download State. The only way to fix this, is to run a Command Prompt Script to clear the Windows Update Settings, reboot the System and then check for updates again, OR go into Advanced Settings and flip the “Download Over Metered Connection Switch.”It makes no difference if the switch is on or off.


Running Windows Update Troubleshooter even as an Administrator, running Disk Restore Health, and System File Checker show no errors or problems. This has been happening for the past two months and is very frustrating. I had absolutely no issues with Windows Update on any previous version builds. I have a restart in the query at this time with updates and will send the script file that I have to use each month to do the reset. Computer is fast and responsive otherwise. This needs a patch, badly!

There is something related to this build causing this for a lot of users. I have only been affected by this bug on build 1909. But check online, as this issue has also affected users on builds 1803, 1809, 1903, and 1909. Only the builds going back to the 1700 series or previous seem to not be affected.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Windows update daily? Ugh

Windows Update seems to be stuck trying to install a particular update, so this might be of use to you.

Click Start, then type "cmd" (without quotes). Right-click cmd then it comes up and hit "Run as Administrator". At the command prompt, type "net stop wuauserv" (again, without quotes), wait for it to say "The Windows Update service was stopped sucessfully" or words to that effect. Leave cmd running.

Navigate to C:\Windows (or whatever drive your OS is installed on), and delete the "SoftwareDistribution" folder. Once that's done, go back to cmd and type "net start wuauserv" (without wuotes again) and wait for it to say "The Windows Update was started sucessfully" or words to that effect. Exit cmd.

Open Windows update, you will need to re-enable Microsoft Update as deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder resets Windows Update. Install any updates that come up and your problem *should* be fixed.

If not, all I can suggest is either downloading that patch manually and installing it, or just reinstall Windows.

 

Windows Update suddenly hangs?

Windows Update is suddenly hanging for some reason... I went and downloaded and installed the first bunch of updates, restarted when asked, and now when I go back to windows update I just get the window with a white box forever. Reboot and it still does it. This happens to be on my main machine, running windows 7.

I've also noticed when I reboot it says configuring windows update, step 3 of 3, 47%. Maybe it somehow skipped something and is screwed forever?
