Windows 10: Windows USB port not detecting new inserted devices.

This issue is happening on windows (7 & 10) on a HP computer. The USB devices will not be recognized even after updating the USB drivers. The USB Devices will however become recognized after disabling, then enabling said drivers. The USB Device will not be recognized as being disconnected after they are removed. The only way for windows to actually recognize that a device is connected is to disable the enable the USB drivers, I assume that when the drivers are first enabled a function gets ran in the drivers code to check the USB ports for any connected devices, but there must be a variable that is disabled that forces the ports to continusly check for a new device instead of only when it is first enabled. Are there any registry values that I could change in order to enable the USB drivers to continualy check for connected devices?

[SOLVED] Windows 8.1 Not Detecting USB Devices

Hello everyone

I'm having some trouble with a new Vaio Pro 13 that doesn't want to detect new usb devices buth old ones work fine on the port i plugged them the first time.

It came with factory Windows 8, updgraded the bios to latest version before updating to Windows 8.1

then started acting up not detecting usb flash drives, mouse, keyboard nothing works except 1 usb flash drive that works in both ports but nothing else wants to work.


EDIT: Problem solved it was a physical problem with both ports sending to warranty *Oh Well hwell:

USB Port Oddities


Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:





Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :





The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :





Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:





Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
