Windows 10: Windows won't automatically switch to physical headphones when plugged in?

I have a pair of headphones that when I plug in, Windows does not automatically switch to them. I've had computers in the past that automatically switch to headphones when plug in. I don't know if it's just this specific pair as I don't have any others to test, but the laptop does detect them just fine it just doesn't switch to them. Is there some setting I can change so that it switches to the headphones automatically?

Automatically switch from headphones to speakers


In windows 7, when headphones were plugged into the jack on the front of the machine it would automatically switch to the headphones and mute the speakers. If you unplugged them, it would enable the speakers. How would I go about enabling this on Windows 10?

 

Store Settings "Update apps automatically" won`t stay switched off. WHY?

In Settings in Store I set "Update apps automatically" to Off.

When I go back in again it`s set back to On. Why won`t it stay switched Off?

How do I get this stupid **** to DO WHAT I TELL IT and SWITCH OFF?

What`s the point of having a Setting that you can`t Set?

 

Automatic switching between headphones and laptop speakers not working since upgrade to Windows 10

I am also having this problem, both devices work fine and can be switched via setting them to the default device, but since I updated to windows 10 (about a week ago) they no longer automatically switch to headphones when headphones are plugged in or removed.

• I am not getting any error message
• I am using a Lenovo T520 laptop
• The sound is working properly with the headphones and it works properly through the speakers. The problem is that it does not automatically switch when the headphones are plugged in or removed.
  

I have tried troubleshooting the devices (it says the device is not the default...)

I have also tried updating the driver (it says the driver is up to date)

I have NOT tried uninstalling the driver and restarting the device yet.
